.EU Registration Agreement:
The following is an abbreviated set of business rules enforced by the .EU Registry. For accurate and complete information please check the .EU Registry site at http://www.eurid.eu

General Rules
Domain Registrations are currently limited to 1 one year terms. Annual Renewals will be available later.

Domain applicants are limited to residents, businesses and organizations located within the the European Union. For detailed information from the .EU Registry, please click
here.

Upon deletion, .EU domains are placed on hold and in a redemption period for 40 days. During this period the domain is not available and may only be reactivated by the registrant of record at the time the domain was deleted. This is similar to the redemption period in effect currently for top-level domains such as .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ and .INFO.

.EU domain transfers are not currently supported.

Live/Land Rush Registrations for applicants without prior rights are scheduled by the Registry for April 7, 2006. This date is subject to change without notice.

Sunrise Rules
For the exact Sunrise validation criteria, please check the .EU Registry validation requirements at http://www.eurid.eu/en/registrant/.
The Validation Agent performing the Sunrise Validation is PricewaterhouseCopper--information about their validation requirements may be found at the
PricewaterhouseCooper validation web site .

Applicants with prior rights protected by the national and/or Community law, as referred to in Article 10(1) second paragraph, of the .EU Public Policy Rules issued April 28, 2004 are eligible to register .EU domains during the .EU Sunrise phases.

There prior rights are of the following types:
  • the name or acronym of a public body. These applications will be validated by the governments of the member state to which the public body belongs;
  • a registered national trademark (e.g. for which a certification exists from a national trademark office of one of the EU member states);
  • a community trademark or an international trademark according that is recognized in Europe;
  • geographic indicators or designations of origin;
  • company name, tradename or business identifier;
  • unregistered trademarks;
  • titles of artistic works like movies, books etc;
  • all types of right that can be proven according to a national law and that does not fall within one of the above categories.
"Public bodies" are institutions and bodies of the European Community, national and local governments, governmental bodies, authorities, organizations and bodies governed by public law or international and intergovernmental organizations

"Geographic indicators or designations of origin" are recognized names or abbreviations that relate to an area of land.

Sunrise applications are validated by a 3rd party validation agent, PricewaterhouseCooper, during both phases to ensure compliance with the Registry's
Sunrise Rules.

Additional validation documentation is required and MUST be submitted within a 40 day time period. Failure to comply with Registry Validation Requirements may result in your application being rejected and loss of your non-refundable Application Fee. For more information, please check the validation requirements at the
PricewaterhouseCooper validation web site.

Validation Process During the Sunrise phases, the .EU Registry will validate each Sunrise application for an .EU domain. The Registry and/or its authorized Validation Agent, PricewaterhouseCooper, will contact the applicant directly and request this documentation, which MUST be provided within 40 days of the Registry's request.

If the first Sunrise applicant for a name sends acceptable proof of their right to the name within the 40 days provided, the Registry's Validation Agent will examine the documentation provided by that applicant.

If the documentation provided by the applicant proves that a prior right exists or can be claimed, the application shall be approved and that domain shall be registered to the applicant. The domain will only be usable/begin resolving only after a 40-day period-- during this period, errors or appeals may be resolved by the .EU Registry.

Later applicants for the same domain will be notified by the .EU Registry that their applications were rejected by the Registry because a previous applicant was awarded the domain name. If the first domain applicant fails to provide acceptable documentation within 40 days, the application shall be rejected and the Validation Agent will then check the documentation from the applicant whose application was received next--this may process may repeat till a valid claim is determined.

If none of the domain applicants are verified within the 40 days specified, the name will be unblocked and available for open registration on a first come, first served (FCFS) basis on April 7, 2006.
The validation process may take as long as 6 months for certain domains
